Breakfast of Champions: Rikuzentakata-style

If bright pink juice doesn’t appeal to you this blog isn’t for you.  Riku Cafe, run by chatty local women who will fuss over you, now serves hot pink shiso juice.  Anything pink and edible, in our opinion is worth consuming and this shiso juice is both refreshing and healthy.  Just sweet enough, we’re pretty sure it’s unlike anything else you’ve ever tasted.

Or, you could try a slice of the mulberry leaf cake.  Ask for Kuwa-no-ha cake.  Mulberry leaves contain minerals and are the main food source for the bugs that turn into cocoons used to make silk.  We like to believe eating this Kuwa-no-ha cake will make your silky and smooth.

Don’t take our word for it.  Stop by Riku Cafe when you come to Rikuzentakata and see and taste for yourself.
